What is Checked and Replaced During Manufacturer-Specified Maintenance Services?

    Last updated 1 year ago

When you buy a car you will generally have a warranty for several years or several thousand miles. This covers your car against many failures, but in order to maintain the warranty you must have your car inspected regularly. These professional inspections are often very thorough, preventive maintenance checks to make sure your vehicle is working properly in all areas. Here is a brief guide to manufacturer-specified maintenance:

    Transmission
The most basic of warranties generally focus on the powertrain. Manufacturer-specified services will include an inspection of the transmission’s overall performance. This includes a transmission fluid flush to prevent damage stemming from overused and ineffective transmission fluid.

    Oil Change
Your powertrain warranty should also cover oil changes to prevent massive engine failure. While oil checks should be done frequently, a certified technician will inspect the quality of your oil at scheduled intervals of time or mileage. This will usually include flushing out old and dirty oil, replacing the oil filter, and refilling your oil reservoir with high-quality motor oil.

    Fluid Checks
A scheduled maintenance check to uphold your manufacturer warranty will also include inspections of your vehicle’s other fluids. Coolant, or radiator fluid, is checked for level and quality to ensure that your engine does not overheat. Brake and steering fluids are changed for maximum safety and handling, and, if necessary, windshield wiper fluid is checked and refilled.

If it is time for your next manufacturer-specified maintenance service, then bring your car or truck to Greulich’s Automotive Service and Collision. Factors that Determine if Your Car Should be Repaired or be Considered a Total Loss

    Last updated 1 year ago

When a car has been in a collision its title will generally change from “clear” to possible a “total loss”. The most extreme situations leave a car with a “total loss” title, which the insurance designates for financial purposes. You may have heard of a car being “totaled,” but not every major collision results in a total loss. Here is a brief guide to the “total loss” title:

When Can Your Car be Fixed?
Just about any car can be fixed, but many larger repairs are not covered by insurance. The fixable problems, in the eyes of the insurance companies, often include dents and easily replaced parts and components.

When is Your Car a Total Loss?
The insurance company involved will declare a car to be a total loss when it is “beyond repair.” Although “beyond repair” could mean the car is not safe for driving, it primarily refers to a car that needs repairs which are more expensive than the car’s current market value.

How can a Car Become a Total Loss?
Cars can become total losses in many ways. Newer cars that are declared a total loss have generally been in serious collisions which have destroyed engine components and framework. Older cars can become totaled in much less traumatic ways: If the engine has become irreparably damaged, but the car costs less than a new engine, then the car may be considered a total loss.

Whether your car’s title is clear or a total loss, bring it to Greulich’s Automotive Service and Repair for any maintenance or collision repairs. We are AAA-approved with excellent skills and customer service. Call us at (480) 483-8186 or contact us online for more information.
